Get Your Nails in Shape for Summer Shoes

It’s getting to that time of the year when you want to kick off your heavy winter shoes and socks and slip into those flip flops and open-toed sandals. Unless that is, you have a fungal toenail infection that is making one or more of your nails ugly and something you want to hide away. At Edmond Norman Foot & Ankle, we have solutions to your fungal nail problems.

Treat Infection First

The first step is coming into either our Edmond or Norman office and getting the right treatment for your fungal nail. Our board certified foot and ankle surgeon, Dr. A. Bil Buksh will examine your nail and determine the best way to heal it. At Edmond Norman Foot & Ankle, we offer the latest laser treatment for fungal toenails as well as more traditional anti-fungal medications.

Keeping Up Appearances

With the appropriate treatment fungal toenails will clear up but the bad news is that it can take many months before your nail looks normal again. That’s why we offer our patients the Keryflex Nail Restoration System. Keryflex is a safe, cosmetic remodeling of your nail. The resulting flexible, nonporous nail will look natural and nail polish and remover can be used on it just like your other nails. Best of all, Keryflex will not interfere with your oral antifungal medications or laser treatments being used to treat the fungal toenail.

Quick and Easy Application

Your podiatrist can apply Keryflex in office in about 15 minutes. The nail is first cleaned and then a bonding agent is brushed onto the nail bed and plate. A special resin is then used to build up the nail which is shaped and contoured to fit your individual toenail. Lastly, an ultraviolet light is applied for a few minutes to harden the resin. A brief final shaping and your on your way to summer fun, feeling confident in the appearance of your toe nails.
