What Your Podiatrist Can Do for You

Most patients are reluctant to call a doctor. They may wonder, is this problem really serious? Is this something worth bothering the foot doctor about? At Edmond Norman Foot & Ankle, we want our patients to feel comfortable calling on us for all footcare needs. Our board certified foot and ankle surgeon, Dr. A. Bil Buksh, is your partner in podiatric health and his job is to oversee all aspects of footcare. The foot doctor is there to provide medical services and information on all of the following:

  • Diagnosis and treatment for pain, injury, deformities or diseases of the toes, feet, ankles and lower legs
  • Proper podiatric hygiene and care regimens
  • Exercise issues
  • Surgery
  • Custom orthotics
  • Help diagnose systemic problems that affect the feet and arrange consultations with other physicians if necessary for comprehensive care

When to Call the Foot Doctor

In many instances, symptoms of major diseases will first show themselves in the feet. Most patients don’t hesitate to call the doctor when they have had a sudden injury or are in intense pain, but here are some other guidelines for when you should make an appointment to come into either our Edmond or Norman offices:

  • Sudden, persistent or increasing pain in the toes, feet or ankles
  • Symptoms that don’t go away or at least improve after two weeks of using an over-the-counter treatment for a foot problem
  • Changes in the appearance of your feet, toes or ankle, including: changes in color, swelling, lumps or bumps and shape or size
  • Changes in toenails or skin such as blisters, severe cracking, peeling, thickening, crumbling or change in color of nails
  • Any signs of infection: redness or red streaks, tenderness, swelling, discharge of any kind, or fever

Your foot doctor is interested in your total body health. It’s always better to be safe and call about a podiatric issue that is concerning you or a question you may have about preventing a foot problem. We urge you to not hesitate to contact us by calling: (405) 285-7408.
